Fun in the sand

It is just 4 heavy duty plastic sides (they attach to each other in channels) and a piece of mesh for the bottom. Yes they provide stakes to pin down the sides, and 2 seats. What we didn't realize is that it take 850 lbs of sand to fill. Since most play sand is sold in 50lb bag... it was a lot of bags. In retrospect, I would have used a truck and gotten a load of sand from the local quarry. OH.. and the bags leak, so line your vehicular with a tarp or plastic if you don't want sand in it. Also, when you put in the stakes make sure you slightly bow in the sides. The weight of the sand will straighten them out, don't worry. The cover is heavy duty but does not come with the recommended yoga ball to keep the water from pooling. We just pile the kids sand toys and the seats in and it works fine. There may be some water pooled on the top but it is easy to get out. It does stay on well in the wind if you adjust the knots. The directions are a hoot as they are obviously translated and poorly so. Our kids love it and they all fit in it at once (2,2,and 5 years old)

Update 7/11/2012. The cover began to come apart in strips after 9 months of use. I tried sewing it and just gave up and called Sand Lot. What wonderful and helpful customer service! They were appalled that the cover was falling apart, assured me this was not something they normally see, are sending me a new one free of charge and they even upgraded it to a more sturdy cover. No hassle at all and the conversation took less than 3 minutes. I have to rave about a company that stands behind their products.

Great sandbox

The sandbox was easy to install. You will need about 17 fifty pound bags of sand to fill it. Sturdy too. The only thing is with all that sand it takes awhile to dry out. The sides bow out slightly due to the pressure of the wet sand. We just scooped the sand into the middle to dry and release pressure. The sandbox went back to its shape-not sure if that will be a problem down the road (The bowing was very slight). Our daughter loves this.

Great Sandbox

I was really happy with this sandbox. I bought it for my son's 4th birthday and he was so excited to play with it that he couldn't even wait until I had finished putting in the sand! It came with the groundcover and a cover for the top which we really need as we have animals that would use it as a potty otherwise! The pieces were really easy to put together and the size of it was perfect for us. Not to big, Not too small. My only problem with it was that the groundcover was fit just perfectly to the sandbox so trying the stake it in with super short grass underneath was extremely difficult. I would suggest removing the completely and leveling out the dirt before staking it into the ground so that the groundcover matches up well with the sides of the sandbox. Despite this, I feel like this was a great investment and something my son will play with for several years to come.
