Great chess set for young Star Wars fanatics

Got this chess set for my two young sons who are Star Wars fanatics and just learning chess, and was not disappointed: it made for a very popular Christmas gift. The pieces are well molded in heavy, somewhat rubbery plastic and have good paint jobs and attention to detail. For the most part the pieces are intuitive to associate with traditional chess pieces (rooks, knights, etc.) but writing the names on the bottom with a permanent marker probably wouldn't hurt. The biggest challenge is keeping the kids from raiding the chess board to play with individual pieces.

Star Wars Chess Set

This chess set was purchased as a gift for a 10 yr. old boy who loves Star Wars. Although it looked good on line. I was disappointed in the quality when it was received. Since it was a Christmas gift it was given and not returned. I believe it was overpriced for the quality.

Star Wars Classic Chess 3 D set

I purchased this for my 12 year old chess whiz son. When he opened this Christmas gift, he smiled and hugged me like no other gift in his life. No surprise since he loves chess AND Star Wars. He had difficulty playing it right off as I had read in the prior reviews. The chess pieces are cool to examine, but It is difficult to discern which chess pieces should perform which function and he had run ins with the adults he played. We will need to mark the positions for knight, king, queen, etc upfront to make for easier play.
